LOCATIONS!!!!


ARTICLE 1:

There are many places in Bogota that you can visit and enjoy, here we will mention some specific places that when you visit our lovely Bogota you will enjoy it a lot and have an amazing time we hope you enjoy and take good advantage of  the information we will give you.

Usaquen: 
There is the main church that is just next to the main square in which the main events happen, for example in Christmas time there are all the lights and the decoration over there, that's why on special times on the year people go there have dinner, take pictures of the gorgeous lights and enjoy with their families and their friends.


My personal experience about his place is a good one, when I first visited was in christmas time and it was beautiful as the picture of the top shows it. It was gorgeous, all the lights, the little houses, the restaurants, the park, all was amazing and I would totally go back there.

ARTICLE 2:
Monserrate


                                  



Monserrate is kind of a hill which is near Bogota's downtown, in front of Guadalupe, the Hill of Guadalupe. It is 3.152 meters high; up there you can find a chuch, some delicious restaurants with some typical food from Bogota and in general from Colombia, bathrooms, a viewer and from there you can see from another point the whole city. There are some stairs, you can go up walking if you prefer, you will get very tired but is a good physical exercice or you can go by the TELEFERICO, which is like a little car but with our wheels and is hanging from a very strong and well made robe that is made of metal I think.

My experience: I've been there with my family laike 3 or 4 times, we went up by the TELEFERICO but we went stairs down, walking all the way, we got very tired but we could see who the view was changing and we did a lot of exercice. We really hope you go meanwhile you are in Bogota, you enjoy the view and have a great time.




Article 3:
 La calera:
This is a very popular place placed around Bogota, is located on a hill, from there you can watch the whole city, is more common that people go there at night because in that way they can go to bars located there, restaurants and the more beautiful: the amazing veiw of our large amazing city. Who enjoy the most this place are the adults but kids also can watch the city and have fun.

Some of the activities you can do there are: Go to the Calera Viewer or Gazebo, which is one of the main reasons to go there, there-as I told you- you can watch the whole city. Another activity which I like a lot re the Hot Springs called : Aguas Termales de la Calera, which is like a pool but the water is mixed with some minerals, salt and mercury which helps to get a better skin, helps to clean it and to relax every muscle of your body. 

We really hope you enjoy this enformation and this section and that you use this information in order to have fun and have an amazing time while you are in Bogota, there are many options and activities and you really should try at least one of all the activities, events and `places around the city!

BOGOTA'S HISTORY


Bogota was build in Bacata that was the center of tribut of the Chibchas that was in a big part of Bogota, Bacata was conquisted by Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada and this man fundate the city on august 6 of 1538.


In this year the city was denominated Bogota. This city was part of the country Nueva Granada, Simon Bolivar took power of the country and he gave the name to the country La Gran Colombia what is now a days Colombia, Ecuador Panama and Venezuela.


Bogota had a slow development because Bogota citizens wanted to conservate the historical part of the city.

the history of bogota refers tothe history of the are surrounding the colombisn capital city of bogota. the area of modern bogota was first populated by groups of indegenous people that migrated to mesoamerica. among these grouos were the muiscas that settled inwhat is now mainly cundinamarca and boyaca. with the arrival of the spanish colonizers te area became a major settlement, funded by gonzalo jimenez de quesada and later capitak of the spanish provinces. with independence bogota became capital of the gran colombia.

european setlement of bogota began when gonzalo jimenez de quesada, the knight of el dorado, conquered bacata, the capital of the chibcha indians. on the site he founded the settlement of danta fe de bacata. the spanish settlers soon corrupted the name to bogota. an audenciawas established to rule teh new colony of new granada. the audencia was a tribunal that had both administrative and judicial powers over the colony , but was subordiante to the vicerory of peru.

as the settlement grew over the years,it maintained a large degree of independence due to difficultes of travel between lima an d bogota, in order to influence more control over the colony, spain established  a new viceroyalty, new granada, and bogota became the capital.

Which cinema places can I go in Bogota?

Article 1:

There are many entertainment places around Bogota. For example you can visit and watch an amazing movies in the different cinema places, you will enjoy it alot. In this article we basically mention and explain how the different cinema places work in Bogota, which cinema places you can visit an enjoy, etc.
For example, in Bogota there is a thematic park called Maloka, it is located in Salitre. There is a dome in which the movies are played.
There are cinemas in Iserra, Santafe and many important malls in which there are the most important cinema places. Actually in most of the malls you will find a cinema place so if you are looking for enternainment cinemas and malls are perfect for you, you can watch a movie, then maybe go to a good restaurant, and enjoy your time in Bogota.








MY EXPERIENCE: I go to the different cinemas very often, I like to watch movies alot, and in Bogota there are amazing cinema places in which you can go very easy and often, there are cinemas in almost all the malls and in each important places, zones, avenues, neighborhoods, etc there are malls and with the malls there come the cinema places

Neighborhoods

To begin knowing our beautiful city Bogota, we have to know more about it's neighborhoods.

In each neigborhood we will show you , you are going to see, how Bogota, has evolutioned and you are going to began knowing a little bit about the people, living in our beautiful city... BOGOTA.

In this section we are going to cover:

  • La Candelaria.
  • El Campin.
  • La Calera.
  • La Zona Rosa..
  • Parque de la 93.

La Candelaria:


La candelaria is the oldest neighborhood of Bogota. It can be called the historical center of Bogota. La Candelaria is located between Calle 7 and Avenida Jimenez de Quesada, and between Carreras 1 and 15. You have to be really careful with everything, as it is a historical place everything is very important and beautiful in this place... La candelaria is very famous because of its colonial houses, This area contains many places worth visiting, including Casa de Poesía Silva , the Palacio de San Carlos , the Casa del Marques de San Jorge , the Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango , the Teatro Colón , and the churches La Candelaria , San Ignacio and Nuestra Señora del Carmen . When you visit this place you would feel like you were in the epoch of the colony, because, some of the streets in la Candelaria are made of rocks, like in the old times, and the houses look really beautiful because they are colonial houses.
Some people say that this houses might have some spirits in them, because they are really old and many different families from different epochs have lived in them. So don`t think it twice and if you visit Bogota don't forget to visit this beautiful and important neighborhood that with it's streets, houses can tell you lots of things about our beautiful city.






El Campin:

El Campin is situated in Avenida Ciudad de Quito, between Calles 53 and 63, This neighborhood receives it's name because of the Campin stadium and coliseum. El campin is a very important neighborhood from Bogota, because, here is situated the stadium "El Campin" which is the biggest stadium in Bogota, here occur the most important soccer matches between different teams. In the coliseum happen many of the most important concerts here in Bogota, In the coliseum have been Demi Lovato, Korn, Gustavo Cerati, Limp Bizkit, among others... Enjoy from different concerts and soccer matches in our coliseum and stadium, we're waiting for you...

La Calera:

This beautiful neighborhood Has the most beautiful discotheques, and restaurants,peolpe like to visit this place, most of the "chivas" go to celebrate in this beautiful neighborhood... From La Calera you can see some spectacular views of Bogota, by day and also by night... If you want to  do exercise and you like to ride a bike you can go on the weekends uphill in La Calera.

La Zona Rosa:

La Zona Rosa is mostly known because of it's nightlife, By the day many people like to shop in the malls that are in La Zona Rosa... some of them could be, Andino, El retiro, Atlantis... People also like to go to the restaurants situated in this neighborhood,It is one of the most expensice neighborhoods in Bogota, It can be called like the high class of Bogota.

Theatres in bogota!! (:

Have you been in Cristóbal Colón Theater?



Lets talk about this wonderful place. Cristóbal Colón Theater , it  is a place for art and musical presentations. It is one of the most beautiful theatres in bogota an  in our continent. Many cultural activities are done here .
 Its name is in honor to Cristobal Colon because of the discovery of America. After visiting this place I could see that is was really amazing, You just need to get into it and see all the wonderful things it has for you. This theatre is not only one of the oldest of Bogota, But it is really elegant and many important events were done here. Its rooms have a really colonial style, and it is a huge prove of our culture and architectonic labor.








 Lets go to the Faenza theatre! :)


When I visited this wonderful pace I learned that It is the oldest theatre of films showing in Bogotá. It got its name because it was built inside a factory installations (called Faenza). I could see that the building has a beautiful  influence, of XIX century.
It was inaugurated in 1924, and then it turned into an important cultural place of the capital. Later it was declared National Monument. I agree this is not only a simple theatre, this is sincerely one of the most beautiful and colonial buildings I've ever seen. You must visit it and enjoy! 






Visit the Camarín del Carmen Theater!

Lets learn about this beautiful piece of Bogotá. It is in the centre of Bogotá.I learned, by visitng it that It was built in 1655 and it is a building that had different functions, nowadays the Camarín is used as theater room. It is really big and nice. The perfomances done there are really special, because its rooms are just beautiful, I had a great experience visiting it and I enjoyed it a lot!

There are many places in the city where you could have a very pleasant and quite evening.
If you enjoy theater, shows, ballet, opera, classical music or if you want to watch a good movie, this is a guide of the main places you would like to attend. Visit this wonderful theatres :)











Libraries!! (:

Visit The Luis Angel Arango's Library (:



In this article we are going to talk about the Luis Ángel Arango Library, A nice place to visit, in which you can enjoy reading, watching the museum paintings and eating at its wonderful cafeteria, between other things.  When I was there I learned that It is a public library located in This big city,Bogotá. It was founded in 1923. it has come to be considered to be the most important public library in Latin America.  In addition, there is a Concert Hall, reprography service, a cafeteria and parking lot. If you go there you must visit the The Botero Museum that is part of the library. The main entrance has  really beautiful statue.
There is also a bookstore in the first floor of the library.
You must visit this wonderful place, it is perfect if you want to know information about bogotá. 


 
 




 Lets take a look to Virgilio's Barco Library!



Have you ever seen a library like this one?, I don’t think so, you must know about it. When I went there I could notice that This library is located at the centre of Bogotá, Its strange but really amazing architecture  makes the library does not need artificial light during the day.
The main room has three levels, one for reading, reading rooms, video library, sound library, digital catalogs, Internet and multimedia. Its rooms are just so nice, and it also has An auditorium, music room, exhibition and information on Bogotá. I enjoyed being at the children's room, That has a toy library and workshops, puppet theater.
Besides all of that also it has an outside caffe with an spectacular water mirror, Its food and caffe is really delicious. I spend time in the green zones to relax, Its offer a very interesting option for visitors, because count with full equipment of books and Cumputers.
This library is gorgeous; you must visit it if you come to Bogotá!














Have you ever visited The Julio Mario Santo Domingo Library? :) 
 

Lets talk in this article a little be about this wonderful place. Visiting this library was just amazing, I learned that The Julio Mario Santo Domingo Library, is located in The Parque San José de Bavaria, is not only one of the largest and most modern of the network of libraries of Bogotá, but also of Latin America. It is really close to the school, and it makes the neighbour hood look really  elegant. Its emphasis is in art, books, music and audiovisual material. 
This library offers IT possibilities for people with auditive and visual disabilities, besides that it is really huge, I enjoyed so much visiting it, and it is so full of history and information I was happy to lern. If you come to this wonderful city, you must visit it and ejoy like me.

Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor is a very beautiful and big mall. It is ubicated in Chia, it is one of the newest malls of chia. It has many restaurants, places for kids to play with some game consoles, a gym, beautiful and very comfortable cinemas, and more...


It is a very beutiful and sofisticated mall, here you can find some boutiques, were you can buy any type of clothes you want, from male clothes, to female clothes, girls and boys clothes...


Plaza Mayor has also blockbuster, in which you can find any type of movie you want...


So don't think it twice Plaza Mayor is a very beautiful mall for you to visit

My Experience: In Plaza Mayor I can go to play in some rooms they have lots of videogames consoles, I have lots of fun with my family and friends in this place, it has some delicious restaurants, I can go to get some movies in blockbuster, I guess this is one of my favorite malls.

Bogota's Monuments

   
Bogota's history is an extense bunch of events, and around Bogota, there are many monuments that remember each individual of the city, where we come from, basically the monuments are based on Bogota's history, they are important people that influenced and make part of Bogota's History.

Sport Places!

In Bogota there are many places were you can practice your sports that places has the name of sport clubs like los buhos club, el rancho club, guaymaral club, country club, hatogrande golf and tenis club and a many more club i have visit all of these clubs.

We going to talk about the buhos club these club is so near to bogota it is in the 200 street is no a big club bit it has 9 holes of golf that are full of wildlife and flora, it is where kids an adults can practice their sport also this club has 20 tenis court and swimming pool, there is a very strict swimming teamn also 4 bowling lines also billar, billar pool and squash.
Another club that i visit is the country club it is one of the best clubs in bogota it into bogota near to unicentro mall it has one of the best golf course in colombia, also has 2 course, like 30 tenis court and a very good bowling line where  practice the best bowlers of colombia.
      

el complejo acuatico de Bogota


I visit this place i think it is wonderfull it has a very beatyfull building but it is not the importamt thing of this place this place has a olympic pool that means that is a pool of 50meters and it has a jumping pool in this place the bogota team of swimming practice all the days to have a better performance to represent bogotain all the world.

this building is in el parque simon bolivar in wish there are many palaces for practicing many sports in el com`plejo acuatico has the bogota  swimming team, is a very  goood team an represent bogota in all colombia.

when i went to this place i didnt enter to the pool but ai saw a competition that has the name  of the intercolegiado de bogota i had a lot of fun and it was to interesting to see all that younger people swimming very fast and all things that was  make a swimming competition.

Cultural Events in Bogota

Article 1:

Bogota is a city influenced by a bunch of different cultural aspects and different countries. With the cultures it comes the different events that represents the cultures and customs of an area, country, etc. In Bogota, as its Colombia's capital city is the center of many cultural events, there are events of all types, theater events, music events, dance events, sports, games, museums, festivals, fairs, for children and adults.

We invite you to go to the different festivals and events you can find in Bogota, Obviously depends on the season you are coming or you are interested in, but normally every month and almost every week there is a different event, festival or activity that you should try.

For example, there is one important festival called:
FESTIVAL IBEROAMERICANO DE TEATRO
Is an amazing event that was founded by Fanny Mickey in  1988, this woman is known as the mother of theater because she came from Argentina at a very young age and brought with her some amazing cultural aspects, one of them was the theater, and with her ideas and help from some professional people this event was founded thanks to her. Nowadays she is dead, she died some years ago but she led to our country an amazing tradition that every year takes place in Bogota and make us very happy and full of joy. There is a variety of activities for kids, adults, etc. And an amazing atmosphere and environment that you should try going to, you will see that you will have lots of fun and will learn a lot.

Article 2:
Opera al Parque 2010

In this article we will mention the Opera Festival that takes place in Bogota. It is a very beautiful event that starts October 25 and ends on November 6. In this year the festival will take place in 10 different places such as theaters, libraries, universities, etc.

This festival brings together a bunch of amazing Opera artist that will show our city what this genre is about. There will be an starting concert in the Virgilio Barco Library, it will be on October 25 at 6 pm. Some of the artists are: Carlos Daza, Maribel Ortega, Pedro Calavia and playing the piano will be Jose Alejandro Rocca. One important guest will be La Orquesta Filarmonica de Bogota, directed by Lior Shambadal, this is a representative Orchesta from Colombia that represents how we play this music and how capable we are to play a variety of genres that are recognized worldwide.

Article 3:
This is a very important and interesting fair that takes place in CORFERIAS,Bogota. It is one of the largest Latin America event, it is an amazing event which brings together many important writers from all the world.

There are meny types of books, the last two years I've been there and I realy enjoy it, I brought some amazing books that I liked a lot and the people that I went with really like it. In my opinion you better spend your whole day there because there are many options, activities and things you could do there.
